Las Vegas Business Leaders Ponder Impact of Mass Shooting

LAS VEGAS—More people visit this glittering entertainment mecca every month than live here year-round. There are 34% more hotel rooms than in New York City, far outpacing any other market in the country.

To say tourism is the lifeblood of the local economy here is an epic understatement: Leisure and hospitality accounted for nearly a third of regional employment in 2015, compared with a national average of about 11%, according to consulting firm Applied Analysis.
