Rapides Parish church safety meeting in response to Texas mass …

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) – It’s been a little more than a month since a gunman opened fire at the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas, killing 26 people and wounding 20 more.

That day is still affecting many, including churches and their pastors. And it’s leading communities to prepare, just in case.

We’ve already seen many communities like Vernon Parish and Grant Parish take part in this movement. On Tuesday night, Rapides Parish followed suit.

Local pastors and law enforcement gathered at Homewood Baptist Church to discuss how they want to assure safety in churches.

Sheriff William Earl Hilton said he believes in the run, hide, fight method.
