Oroville man arrested after sending threatening texts about mass shooting

One man is in custody Wednesday afternoon after Butte County Sheriff’s investigators say he sent text messages threatening a mass shooting and suicide at the Gold Country Casino in Oroville.

The man arrested is 26-year-old Wade Burnside of Oroville.

He said the shooting would happen Tuesday before 11 in the morning.

Sheriff’s investigators say he initially denied sending the threatening texts, but eventually admitted to doing it.

Deputies found meth, pipes, and ammo at his place on Mitchell Avenue in Oroville.

He was arrested for making terroristic threats and violation of probation, among other charges.

Burnside was booked into Butte County Jail on a 50-thousand dollar bail.

Feds just arrested first person in connection with Las Vegas massacre — here’s what he’s accused of

Federal authorities arrested a man on Friday who they say broke federal law when he sold Las Vegas shooter Stephen Paddock armor-piercing ammunition, according to AZCentral.com.

That same man held a press conference on Friday declaring his innocence and denying any involvement with Paddock or the massacre.

What happened?

Authorities arrested Douglas Haig and charged him with conspiracy to manufacture and sell armor-piercing ammunition, according to a criminal complaint filed in a Nevada federal court.

The complaint alleges investigators found two unfired .308 caliber rifle rounds in Paddock’s Vegas hotel room with Haig’s fingerprints on them. Authorities also found Haig’s tool marks on the bullets, despite “adamantly” telling investigators they wouldn’t.

The complaint says authorities executed a search warren on Haig’s Mesa, Arizona, home on Oct. 19, where they seized additional armor-piercing ammunition. Police were led to Haig after they found a box of ammunition in Paddock’s hotel room

Who are National Action? Six arrested in connection with far-right terror group

Five men and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of belonging to banned far-right terror group National Action.

West Midlands Police said the suspects, aged between 21 and 37, were detained under Section 41 of the Terrorism Act on Wednesday.

The arrests were pre-planned and intelligence-led with no threat to the public’s safety, the force said.

National Action was made a proscribed terrorist organisation in December 2016, the first extreme right-wing group to be outlawed in the UK.

National Action is a far-right neo-Nazi organisation.

Founded in 2013, three years later it was proscribed as a terrorist group by the government.

The group is secretive, and has rules to prevent members from talking openly about the organisation.

In March last year, an undercover investigation by ITV found that its members were still meeting in secret.

A Florida man is facing charges after he allegedly drew a “disturbing” picture — depicting an apparent mass shooting — on a student’s homework assignment, police said.

Robert Paul Alexander Edwards, 33, of Mexico Beach, was arrested Friday on charges of writing threats to kill or do bodily injury after a staffer at Port St. Joe Elementary School spotted on a student’s homework assignment the troubling drawing of a burning building and several people being shot, according to the Gulf County Sheriff’s Office.

“The image included two people on the ground in what appeared to be a pool of blood,” Sheriff Mike Harrison said in a statement released Friday. “The words, ‘Pew, Pew, Pew,’ were written next to the person with the gun.”
