The victims who came before Versace: How murderer Andrew Cunanan went on a homicidal cross-country spree that …

The manhunt and the crimes that transfixed America in 1997 had elements that could have been lifted right out of a movie plot: high society, high fashion, celebrity, nightlife, sadomasochism – and a pathological liar genius who progressed to serial murder. By the time Gianni Versace was shot dead outside his Miami mansion on July 15, 1997, killer Andrew Cunanan had left behind a web of terror across the country and even more unanswered questions.

And, while the Italian fashion designer was his most famous victim, Cunanan killed at least four men before him – some targeted and others, seemingly, at random.

The killings are the subject of the controversial second season of American Crime Story, starring Ricky Martin, Penelope Cruz, Darren Criss and Edgar Ramirez. Investigative reporter Maureen Orth spent months tracking still-active killer Cunanan’s movements when he was on the run in 1997 – far before he

Las Vegas Gunman Interacted With Hotel Staff More Than 10 Times Before Mass Shooting

(LAS VEGAS) — The parent company of the Las Vegas hotel-casino where a gunman opened fire Oct. 1, causing the deadliest mass shooting in recent U.S. history, says hotel staff had more than 10 interactions with Stephen Paddock in the three days leading up to the massacre.

The Las Vegas Review Journal reports that a statement released by MGM Resorts International says the interactions between Paddock and Mandalay Bay employees, which included a room service delivery and a call with housekeeping on the day of the shooting, were “normal in nature.”

Police say Paddock shot at attendees of the Route 91 Harvest country music festival from the broken windows of his 32nd-floor suite that night, killing 58 people and injuring hundreds.

The 64-year-old Paddock killed himself just before authorities stormed his room.

California Shooter Kevin Neal Hid His Wife’s Dead Body Under Floor Before Mass Shooting

California gunman Kevin Jansen Neal killed his wife and hid her body under the floor before killing four more people on a shooting spree Tuesday using a gun that he should not have been able to acquire, authorities said Wednesday.

Authorities found Neal’s wife’s body inside a hole in the floor of their Rancho Tehama home. Neal, 43, killed his wife Monday before the rampage the following day that ranged across the community and targeted a school, where two children were wounded.

Officers found a semi-automatic rifle and two handguns with Neal on Tuesday. At a press conference Wednesday, police said that Neal’s wife got a restraining order against him in February that should have kept him from owning guns. They also provided details about the grisly under-floor find.

“There was a hole cut in the floor … we’re confident that he

California mass shooting suspect killed wife, hid body day before rampage, officials say – WBIR

RANCHO TEHAMA RESERVE, Calif. — The day before a man went on a shooting spree at seven sites in this Northern California community, he killed his wife in their home and cut a hole in the floor to hide her body, sheriff’s officials said Wednesday.

The killing of the woman, whose name has not been released, raises the death toll to five at the hands of suspect Kevin Janson Neal, 43, who also is dead.

Two Tehama County sheriff’s deputies killed him Tuesday in a shootout after they rammed his vehicle as he fled one of the crime scenes.

“He shot her at some point, probably late Monday,  … put her body in

Why the ‘Boyfriend Loophole’ Must Go—and Before Another Mass Shooting

RSVP for #StopSexism Weekly Calls

The greatest predictor of the next (preventable) Mass Shooter is found in identifying those who commit domestic abuse.

But, for some reason, America’s Congress isn’t willing to close the one loophole that will prevent members (mostly all men) in non-parenting couples from purchasing guns.

Why?

From SingledOut.Org:

THE BOYFRIEND LOOPHOLE

You may already know our gun laws have a few problems. But you’d imagine that, at the very least, there’s no legal way for an abusive boyfriend to buy a gun, right? Wrong.

Domestic abusers are supposed to be prohibited from buying guns, and they can’t pass a federal background check when they buy a gun from a licensed dealer. But there’s a big catch: An abuser is only prohibited from buying a gun if he’s currently married to, formerly married to,

Vegas mass killer shot a security guard minutes before carnage began

The gunman in the Las Vegas massacre first shot a hotel security officer about six minutes before opening fire on an outdoor concert, a new revelation in the timeline of the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.

Jesus Campos, who was injured in the leg during the shooting, investigated “sounds of drilling” coming from the 32nd-floor room of the Mandalay Bay resort where killer Stephen Paddock was staying, authorities said at a late-afternoon press briefing.

Paddock, who had an arsenal of rifles and ammunition in his room, was drilling holes through a wall in preparation for his well-planned attack, which included not only firing bullets at the concert-goers below, but also the planting of at least 50 pounds of explosives in his car.

Moments later, Campos was shot in the leg by Paddock, an injury he would survive. The time of the shooting was 9:59 p.m. Las Vegas time — about six minutes before

Las Vegas gunman fired on security guard before mass shooting

(Reuters) – The Las Vegas gunman opened fire on a security guard six minutes before he rained down bullets on a crowd and killed 58 people, officials said on Monday in a change to the timeline of the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.

The shooter, Stephen Paddock, 64, was seen on numerous occasions in Las Vegas without any person accompanying him and he gambled the night before the shooting, Clark County Sheriff Joseph Lombardo said at a news conference. He killed himself after the attack.

“This individual purposely hid his actions leading up to this event, and it is difficult for us to find the answers,” said Lombardo, who said he was frustrated with the speed of the investigation.

Paddock sprayed an outdoor concert with bursts of gunfire from high above in a Las Vegas hotel window on Oct. 1, killing 58 and wounding hundreds more, before
