Mother charged after 14-year-old son allegedly stockpiled weapons for school shooting

The mother of a 14-year-old who police say planned to shoot multiple classmates at his Pennsylvania high school was charged on Monday in connection to the foiled plot, authorities said.

Lenora Ann Hendrix, of Markleysburg, Pennsylvania, was charged with knowingly and intentionally delivering or providing a firearm to a minor, according to ABC affiliate WTAE, after her son threatened to carry out a mass shooting at Uniontown High School last month.

The teen, who wasn’t indentified, was taken into police custody on Jan. 25, just days after mass shootings at high schools in Kentucky and Texas. A witness reported that she overheard the suspect saying he would kill four classmates he disliked, officials said.

Man who sold ammo to Las Vegas shooter charged – WLS

An Arizona man who sold ammunition to the gunman who carried out the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history was charged Friday with manufacturing armor-piercing bullets, according to court documents.

Unfired armor-piercing bullets found inside the Las Vegas hotel room where Stephen Paddock launched the attack on Oct. 1 contained the fingerprints of ammunition dealer Douglas Haig, according to a criminal complaint filed in federal court in Phoenix. It says Haig didn’t have a license to manufacture armor-piercing ammunition.

The documents don’t say if the ammunition was used in the attack. Haig was charged 35 minutes before holding a news conference where he said he didn’t notice anything suspicious when he sold 720 rounds of ammunition to Paddock in the weeks before the massacre that left 58 people dead.

Haig told investigators that when Paddock bought the ammunition at his home in suburban Phoenix, Paddock went to his car to get gloves

Man charged for allegedly threatening a mass shooting at “fake news” CNN

A man was charged in federal court on Friday after allegedly threatening a mass shooting at the Atlanta, GA, headquarters of CNN, which he complained was “fake news.”

As part of his broader effort to undermine trust in the news media, President Donald Trump has frequently singled out CNN for opprobrium, attacking the network dozens of times during his presidential campaign and first year in office and often asserting that the network and its reporters propagate “fake news.” In July, after the president tweeted a video of himself body-slamming a man who had a CNN logo superimposed on his head, the network warned that he was “encourag[ing] violence against reporters.”

Brandon Griesemer, a 19-year-old from Michigan, apparently channeled the president’s attacks on CNN. He made nearly two dozen phone calls to the network earlier this month, four of which included threats,

While Sunday’s deadly mass shooting at the Route 91 Harvest festival in Las Vegas added fuel to the ongoing debate over gun control, the attack has also raised concerns about the vulnerability of open-air venues hosting large-scale outdoor concerts and festivals.

This weekend upward of 30,000 fans are expected to file into Glen Helen Amphitheater in San Bernardino for Cal Jam 2017, a two-day rock music blowout.

Foo Fighters and Queens of the Stone Age are set to headline the event, and more than a dozen acts including Cage the Elephant, Liam Gallagher and Bob Mould also top the bill.

Following Sunday’s attack in Las Vegas, where a gunman shot into a crowd of fans attending the country music festival, leaving nearly 60 dead and wounding hundreds more, Cal Jam officials told The Times they were working with local law enforcement officials to beef up security measures for that venue.

“Additional security measures have been
