Mother of Las Vegas Cop Killed in Mass Shooting Dies After Attending His Funeral

The mother of a Las Vegas police officer killed in the mass shooting earlier this month died after attending her son’s funeral—which has left some family members thinking her broken heart might be to blame. 

Sheryl Stiles was visiting from Louisville, Kentucky to bury her son, police officer Charleston Hartfield, when on the day of his funeral she had a heart attack. 

Stiles then fell down an escalator at the South Point Hotel, Casino Spa and suffered brain damage, the family said. 

She was taken off life support over the weekend and died.

“We came to bury my nephew and then the next thing we know, I have to bury my sister,” her brother, Lewis Stiles, told FOX 5 Vegas

Police officer killed in Las Vegas mass shooting left instructions for funeral: ‘Remember me for who I was’

A Las Vegas police officer, who was among 58 people killed in the worst mass shooting in modern U.S. history, left instructions for his funeral prior to his death.

Charleston Hartfield, 34, was buried Friday in Henderson, Nevada, after a funeral that drew more than 2,000 family members, friends and police and military officers, Fox News reported.

Hartfield, a father of two, was off-duty when gunman Stephen Paddock opened fire into the unsuspecting crowd at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas on the night of Oct. 1. Hartfield reportedly lost his life trying to shield others from the hail of bullets coming from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel.

Zappos offers to cover funeral cost for all 58 mass shooting victims

Las Vegas-based online retailer Zappos is offering to cover the cost of the funerals for all 58 victims that died in the Route 91 mass shooting.

This comes after Zappos has already pledged to match up to $1 million dollars donated to their fundraiser.

Zappos made Las Vegas their home several years ago and they’re showing that they will go above and beyond the call of duty to help victims gain peace after this tragedy.

Funeral held for mother, child killed in mass shooting

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Family and friends packed a Southside church Saturday to pay their respects at the funeral for two of the three people shot and killed in the mass shooting almost two weeks ago in Northwest Jacksonville.

Kadejah Williams, 22, and her 11-month-old baby Tedashii Williams were shot and killed Nov. 12 in a parking lot across the street from the Cleveland Arms Apartments.

The funeral service was held at the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church on San Diego Road at 11 a.m.
Williams’ god-mother Vanette Jordan said she is struggling to find closure because no arrest has been made directly related to the murder.

“It is very difficult, because it happened for no reason,” Jordan said. “Nobody knows why. Nobody but God.”
Williams’ cousin Suete Williams said it’s been hard for the hundreds who gathered inside the church to say goodbye.
