First picture of gunman who killed four and injured 10 in mass shooting at school

This is the gunman who killed four people and injured 10 others including children at a school before he was shot dead by police in California.

Kevin Neal, 43, has been named as the mass killer who carried out the latest atrocity to leave Americans discussing gun control.

Prosecutors confirmed he was already facing a number of serious charges including assault with a deadly weapon after a domestic incident in February.

But Neal managed to pay $160,000 (£121,000) to get bailed and was free to carry out the appalling attack on Tuesday.

Police are still trying to piece together exactly how the horror unfolded, but the shooting began sometime around 8am near Neal’s home in the rural town of Rancho Tehama.

There followed a number of driveby shootings, before Neal then crashed his pickup truck into a nearby primary school and began firing

Southern California police injured during Las Vegas mass shooting heroism denied workers’ comp due to state law

As bullets rained down on a Las Vegas concert crowd earlier this month, killing dozens, many of the 200-plus Southern California police officers attending the festival shifted instantly into law-enforcement mode.

They sprang to action – repeatedly shepherding people to safety, performing CPR and helping local authorities secure the area – sometimes sustaining gunshot wounds or other injuries in the process.

But as those wounded officers have begun filing for public-employee benefits to cover the long-term medical care some might need to recover from the trauma, local cities and counties are asking themselves whether they’re required or even allowed to pay to treat off-duty police who chose independently to intervene in an out-of-state emergency. And due to some muddy language in California’s labor code, it’s unclear whether the municipalities will have to pony up.

On Monday, Orange County rejected workers’ compensation claims from four sheriff’s deputies injured in the shooting, paving

The staccato-like rhythm of gunshots pierced the air and Kortney Spencer was on the ground, severely injured by a bullet that had punctured her shin. Her boyfriend, Dominic, hovered over her, shielding her from further harm.

California Student Injured During Las Vegas Mass Shooting Files Lawsuit; Authorities Investigating Shooter’s Timeline

A California college student injured in the Las Vegas music festival massacre filed a lawsuit Wednesday against the hotel owners, the concert promoter and bump stock manufacturers, claiming they were all liable in the mass shooting.

The claims against MGM Resorts International, which owns both Mandalay Bay and the concert venue that hosted the festival, raise more questions about a timeline that has changed numerous times — and, according to Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo, could change again. The suit also questions why hotel staff didn’t notice gunman Stephen Paddock’s behavior in several instances.

Specifically, the lawsuit accuses MGM, of failing to respond in a timely manner to the “shooting of Mandalay Bay security officer Jesus Campos, who had gone to the 32nd floor to check on an alert from another guest room and who was shot six minutes prior to” the massacre beginning.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – One woman was killed and eight people, including the gunman, were injured in what officials are calling a “mass casualty” incident at a church in Antioch Sunday morning.

Metro police responded to the Burnette Chapel Church of Christ on Pin Hook Road at 11 a.m.

The preliminary investigation shows the gunman, whose identity has yet to be released, shot one woman outside the church, killing her, before opening fire inside the church and injuring at least 6 people in the shooting.

Police spokesman Don Aaron said another man then confronted the gunman and was pistol-whipped.

After the confrontation, authorities say the gunman then shot himself in the head.

Five of the shooting victims as well as the gunmen were taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment.

6 injured, 1 killed in Bronzeville mass shooting – Chicago Tribune

A mass shooting in the Bronzeville neighborhood on the city’s South Side left a 28-year-old man dead and injured six others late Tuesday, authorities said.

Several gunmen came up to a crowd of people standing on the sidewalk near the corner of East 37th Street and South Michigan Place just before 10:40 p.m. and began shooting, police said.

A large family and neighbors were standing outside for a barbecue when the bullets started flying, said a relative of the injured who came to the crime scene. Kids were running with hot dogs in their hands and older family members were hanging out when the gunmen opened fire, he said.

The mass shooting brings to 11 the number of people shot in about six hours from Tuesday night to Wednesday morning, police said. In a separate shooting, a 48-year-old man was fatally shot on the West Side, police said.
