The latest on Las Vegas mass shooting

It has been a week since Stephen Paddock, a 64-year-old retired accountant and high-stakes video poker player, unloaded on 22,000 country music fans from his 32nd-floor suite in Las Vegas’ Mandalay Bay Resort moored on the city’s Sunset Strip, killing 58 people and wounding hundreds before fatally shooting himself in the head.

Previously, authorities had said that the security guard, Jesus Campos, was shot after Paddock had opened fire on the crowd below.

Lombardo said Campos immediately reported to hotel security that he had

The Latest In The Investigation Into Las Vegas Mass Shooting

ROBERT SIEGEL, HOST:

The marquees on the Las Vegas Strip went dim at 10:05 last night. That marked the moment where a week earlier a gunman had opened fire on thousands of concertgoers. He killed 58 and wounded hundreds more. And despite an exhaustive investigation, one question remains unanswered. Why? Why did he do it? NPR’s Leila Fadel now joins us from Las Vegas with the latest. And Leila, the latest doesn’t include any more information as to the motive of the gunman, does it?

LEILA FADEL, BYLINE: That’s right. At least publicly, there is still no answer that law enforcement have on why he did that – that big question. Over the weekend, the shooter’s brother, Eric Paddock, flew into Las Vegas. I spoke to him briefly on the

After Latest Mass Shooting, a Renewed Call to ‘Stop the Bleed’

PLAINS TOWNSHIP — After Wednesday’s shooting outside Washington, a congressman is being hailed for saving another’s life by using a tourniquet.

It’s a simple thing that medical experts say everyone should learn how to use.

“I was able to make it to the dugout, take off my belt, one of the staffers was wounded, take off the belt, myself and another person put the tourniquet on his leg,” said Representative Mo Brooks of Alabama.

It happened in just a few moments: a tourniquet that doctors say saved a congressional staffer’s life after he was shot in the leg at a congressional baseball team practice Wednesday morning.

“I continue to be disturbed by the number of mass casualties that we observe, most recently here in the Weis Markets up in Tunkhannock. Just before that, another five victims down in Orlando and it continues to be a problem that we face, but just seeing that somebody,

Family shaken after becoming the latest mass-shooting victims in NO

NEW ORLEANS — Robert Johnson and his sister Racquel lost their Dad to cancer about two months ago. Thursday night, they almost lost the rest of their family.

Their mother, stepfather, brother, cousin, and a family friend and her 4-year-old son were shot in Gentilly.

“We really didn’t get over that all the way,” Robert Johnson said. “It just started easing and then something like this happened. I just buried my daddy and it’s kind of tough.”

“I don’t really have that stuff going on in my family, so it was kind of shocking, but we’re still living,” Racquel Johnson added.

The shooting happened at Racquel’s home in the 3600 block of Franklin Avenue. The next day, bullet holes were visible on the house, and blood was
