Little Rock clubgoer’s lawsuit tells of terror on night of mass shooting

A Little Rock man who says he was forced to jump out of a second-story window on his 29th birthday to escape the mass shooting at a downtown club in July has sued the now-defunct establishment, its proprietor and the company that owns the building.

Patrick Dwight Hardy was shot in the arm and suffered physically scarring injuries from the shooting and subsequent confusion, according to the 15-page lawsuit filed Tuesday.

Hardy is suing for compensatory and punitive damages for his pain and suffering, emotional distress, loss of income from work and disfigurement from being shot, the suit states. Hardy’s attorney, Josh Gillespie, is petitioning Pulaski County Circuit Judge Chris Piazza for a jury trial.

Bodyguard charged in mass shooting at Little Rock club pleads not …

UPDATE:

Ricky Hampton’s bodyguard, Kentrell Gwynn, pleaded not guilty in federal court Tuesday to federal charges stemming from a Little Rock mass shooting last month.

Gwynn’s three-day trial is set for Sept. 18 before U.S. District Judge J. Leon Holmes in Little Rock.

The rapper who performed the night of a mass shooting at a Little Rock nightclub has pleaded not guilty to a federal charge stemming from another shooting in Forrest City.

Ricky Hampton, who performs under the stage name Finese 2 Tymes, also waived his court appearance that had been set for Tuesday in federal court on a charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm, filings show.

Ricky Hampton’s bodyguard, Kentrell Gwynn, pleaded not guilty in federal court Tuesday to federal charges stemming from a Little Rock mass shooting last month.

Despite complaints, Little Rock nightclub stays open after mass shooting

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Associated Press) – An Arkansas nightclub were 28 people were wounded in a shooting during a rap concert remained open despite dozens of civil and criminal complaints that the city of Little Rock could have used to sanction or close the business.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports the complaints include two previous shootings outside the club, Power Ultra Lounge. The club also held a restaurant mixed drink permit, despite promoting itself as a concert venue.

City Manager Bruce Moore said he should’ve known about the previous incidents, but officials never made the connection. Moore said he’ll appoint a police liaison to a criminal abatement committee to help improve communication.

No charges have been filed in the July 1 shooting during the concert by rapper Ricky Hampton. Hampton and his body guard have been arrested on unrelated weapons charges.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — A bodyguard was charged Tuesday with illegally providing a firearm to the rapper who was performing when gunfire broke out at an Arkansas nightclub this month, and federal officials say one of the guard’s guns matched a shell casing found at the scene.

No one has been charged in the July 1 shooting at Little Rock’s Power Ultra Lounge, which left 28 people injured. City officials say gang violence may have played a role, and Gov. Asa Hutchinson has announced the creation of a task force to address an increasing amount of violence in Arkansas’ capital city.

A Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agent accused Kentrell Gwynn of providing a firearm to Ricky Hampton, a Memphis, Tennessee, rapper and convicted felon who performs asc Agent Warren Newman also alleged that Gwynn provided armed security to a convicted felon.

Rapper onstage during Little Rock mass shooting jailed in Arkansas

LITTLE ROCK — A Memphis rapper whose July 1 show at a Little Rock nightclub was interrupted by a mass shooting was booked into an Arkansas jail Friday in connection with a different shooting.

Ricky Hampton, 25, who performs as Finese TwoTymes or Finese2Tymes, was booked into the St. Francis County jail in Forrest City at 12:25 p.m., online jail records show.

Hampton was booked on state charges of second-degree criminal mischief, first-degree terroristic threatening and first-degree battery and a federal charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Federal authorities said Hampton was leaving Club Envy in Forrest City on June 25 when he began screaming at a person in a car he believed was in his way. Hampton allegedly got out of his vehicle, continued screaming at the person in the car and pointed a gun at the person.
