BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Melinda Brockie, one of the local victims wounded in the Las Vegas concert shooting, returned home Tuesday to a warm welcome.

Brockie, of Bellingham, was attending the Jason Aldean concert with her husband and relatives when the shooting began on the night of Oct. 1.

Brockie’s cousin Sarah Gray says Brockie was shot in the jaw and underwent surgery in Las Vegas.

Gray says Brockie and her husband are big country music fans, especially of Jason Aldean. They went to Las Vegas for the concert and Brockie was about to Facetime her 9-year-old son, who is also a big Aldean fan, from the concert venue just minutes before the shooting happened.

“Once the gunfire started happening, they just ran. People were

Jason Aldean returns to Las Vegas a week after mass shooting

Country star Jason Aldean has returned to Las Vegas a week after a mass shooting during his performance at a music festival left 58 people dead and hundreds more hurt.

University Medical Center of Southern Nevada thanked Aldean on Facebook Sunday for visiting with survivors. The hospital says Aldean’s visit “helped heal hearts and cheer those who were wounded.”

Aldean’s wife, Brittany, posted a picture of herself and Jason on Instagram looking at the Mandalay Bay resort, where shooter Stephen Paddock opened fire on the crowd from his hotel room Oct. 1. She wrote in the caption that seeing the strength of victims helped the couple “try to begin the healing process.”

The visit came a day after Aldean performed on “Saturday Night Live” in tribute to the victims.

ANTIOCH, Tenn. — Just days after a mass shooting inside their middle Tennessee church, members of Burnette Chapel Church of Christ gathered Wednesday evening for regular services.

Despite all that these churchgoers turned mourners have gone through these past few days, they still gathered to pray and continue to heal together.

“Father we pray you’ll be with our loved ones in the hospital even beyond the ones in the tragic accident this weekend.”

“They can overcome these injuries be with the doctors and nurses that wait upon them.”

Some of the victims who were injured when a lone gunmen entered the church, like Catherine Dickerson, were also in attendance.

“Continue to bless our service men, our police department, fire department, all the safety forces we have in this country,” Carter prayed. “We pray you’ll continue to watch over this congregation and be with all

Convicted Valentine’s Day Spree Killer Returns to Court

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Frank Garcia, who was serving five life
sentences in Attica without the possibility of parole for a Valentine’s Day 2009 killing spree, appeared
Thursday morning in a Rochester court.

One of those sentences was overturned by the Appellate Division of
New York State’s Supreme Court.

Four people were killed and one was wounded. First, Mary Silliman
and Randy Norman were shot outside Lakeside Hospital in Brockport, as
was Audra Dillon, Norman’s girlfriend. Silliman and Norman died.

Kimberly and Christopher Glatz were shot dead inside their
Canandaigua residence hours later.

The sentence levied in Dillon’s shooting was the one overturned.
Dillon was in court for Garcia’s appearance, but left without talking.

Garcia appeared without a lawyer Thursday, so the case was
adjourned. He’s due back in court June 1.
