No proof that Nikolas Cruz, Parkland shooter, was motivated by Islamic or left-wing hate

A conservative website portrayed Nikolas Cruz, who admitted to fatally gunning down 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, as sharing views of certain Muslims and leftists.

“The mass murderer was immersed in Islamic and leftwing hate,” stated a story on the Geller Report website on Feb. 14, the day of the shooting at the Parkland, Fla., school.

The author of the website, Pamela Geller, is an activist who co-founded Stop Islamization of America, also known as the American Freedom Defense Initiative, a far-right group.

Facebook users flagged the post as being potentially fabricated, as part of the social network’s efforts to combat online hoaxes. We found no evidence that Cruz was immersed in Islamic or left-wing hate.

Most of Geller’s story has nothing to do with political views held by Cruz. It largely repeats an initial story by Fox News the day of the shooting and showed some of Cruz’s

No one becomes a mass shooter without a mass-shooting gun

It’s not a good hunting weapon. And for personal protection, you’re better off with a 12-gauge shotgun or a handgun. Of course, with those weapons at home, you also might shoot a family member or yourself.

Family hosting Florida school shooter Nikolas Cruz ‘baffled’ how 19-year-old turned into suspected mass killer

The family who hosted Florida school shooter suspect Nikolas Cruz say he was strange, immature and depressed but didn’t seem like a killer, according to reports.

After James and Kimberly Snead took 19-year-old Cruz into their Florida home in November he followed their rules, was good company and seemed to be becoming happier.

On Wednesday Cruz was still living with the family when he’s alleged to have used his AR-15 rifle to kill 17 people at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida .

“We had this monster living under our roof and we didn’t know,” Kimberly Snead told the South Florida Sun Sentinel today .

“Everything everybody seems to know, we didn’t know,” Jim Snead added. “It’s as simple as that.”

School shooter’s brother ‘in psych facility’

THE younger brother of deranged school shooter Nikolas Cruz was committed to a mental health facility, according to reports.

The New York Post reports, authorities removed someone Friday from the home of Roxanne Deschamps, a longtime family friend of the Cruz brothers who took them in after their adoptive mother died of pneumonia in November, The Palm Beach Post reported.

A friend of Deschamps confirmed Zachary Cruz, who turns 18 next week, was the person removed from the home.

The younger Cruz brother was involuntarily committed under Florida’s Baker Act, under which he can be held involuntarily for up to 12 hours for an involuntary psychiatric exam.

It’s unclear if he’s been released.

Police report reveals Fla. shooter’s behavior toward his mother …

Newly released police reports depicted mass killer Nikolas Cruz as a threat to his mother and himself, exposing a volatile teen anxious to purchase a gun once he turned 18.

Lynda Cruz called police repeatedly after fights in the family home, including a Jan. 15, 2013, blowout where the infuriated teen threw a chair, a glass and a dog bowl, according to reports obtained by CNN.

“He has mentioned in the past that he would like to purchase a firearm,” noted one of the 30-plus reports filed by cops responding to his Parkland, Fla., home.

The police paperwork covered a stretch from 2011-16, with references to jailed murder suspect Nikolas Cruz as a “mentally ill person” who at one point smacked his mom with a plastic vacuum cleaner

As convenient as it would be, there is no one-size-fits-all profile of who carries out mass shootings in the United States.

About the only thing almost all of them have in common is that they are men.

But those men come from varying backgrounds, with different mental health diagnoses and criminal histories. Examining past New York Times coverage of mass shootings reveals some shared tendencies of the gunmen, including the fact that they are most commonly white, but such traits Read more at: https://www.nytimes.com/2018/02/17/us/mass-murderers.html

There Is No Clear Profile of an American Mass Shooter – The New …

It’s not clear that access to mental health care would have prevented violence. Elliot O. Rodger saw several therapists before he killed six people in Isla Vista, Calif., in May 2014. His therapists disagreed on the nature of his mental disorders.

Adam Lanza, who killed 20 children and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012, had received years of counseling from psychiatrists and psychologists. Though he had Asperger’s syndrome, a mild form of autism that does not suggest violent behavior, he had never been found to have any mental illness that would.

Domestic violence

The factors that would lead someone to domestic violence are similar to those that would lead someone to mass killings, researchers have found.

Quite often, the crimes overlap. Everytown for Gun Safety, a gun control group, found that 57 percent of mass shooting
