‘Get down! Get down!’ Witnesses recount gunfire, horror at school …

Brian Rodgers was putting out the “Espresso” banner in front of his small coffee shop when he heard the staccato of 10 shots from across the road in this small community.

Then he heard the screaming and shouts from Rancho Tehama Elementary School just down the road.

“You could hear the teachers tell the kids, ‘Get down! Get down!’ ”

It was just before 8 am. Students would have been on the playground as classes did not start until 8:15 am. Rodgers knows because until recently his own children went to school there.

ATLANTA – Family members of the man killed on a MARTA train Thursday afternoon believe he was targeted by the shooter.

“He worked with him and they had altercations,” said one woman who said her sister was dating the victim. “It was like he was aiming at me, my sister and her boyfriend.”

Family members, and later police, identified the victim as Zachariah Hunnicutt. He was riding the train with his girlfriend and her sister. The girlfriend is listed as stable at Grady Hospital along with two bystanders.

Many of the witnesses who saw the actual shooting in Howland on Saturday were too shaken to talk on camera and described what they saw as horrifying.

Brenda Hoague was too upset to talk on camera but talked by phone. Hoague said, “I had just left a birthday party with my two children. I was driving on State Route 46 when a man ran out in front of my car into traffic. At first I thought he had been in an accident. As he ran I could see blood coming from his nose and mouth. Then the man with the gun pointed his hand towards the gentleman running across the road and he fired three shots. We heard pop, pop, pop. Police seek help to ID witnesses from mass shooting…

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Surveillance video News4Jax obtained Tuesday shows the minutes leading up to Sunday night’s mass shooting in Northwest Jacksonville that left an 18-year-old woman, a young mother and an 11-month-old boy dead.

Two other people were wounded in the shooting but survived.

News4Jax has chosen not to show the unedited video at the request of a victim’s family.

So far, no arrests have been made, and community leaders are begging witnesses to speak up to help give closure to the grieving families of 11-month-old Tedashii Williams, 22-year-old Kadejah Williams and 18-year-old Xacia Burnem.
